    1895-O Silver Dollar, MS61
    Challenging O-Mint Issue

1895-O $1 MS61 ANACS. VAM-3. Housed in an early generation ANACS holder, this mostly brilliant and minimally marked 1895-O displays an uncommonly sharp strike and strong silver luster. A tinge of gold toning visits the lower reverse margin and appears as just a delicate hint of gold at the upper obverse fields, yet the coin is otherwise starkly silver. The flag of 5 is recut north, a common VAM variety for this scarce New Orleans issue. Just 450,000 pieces were struck.(Registry values: P9, N4719)
