Gem CU $5 Brown Back, St. Louis, Missouri

State National Bank of St. Louis, MO, Charter #5172. 1882 $5 Second Charter Brown Back, Fr-477, C.G.A. Gem Uncirculated 65. Although this bank is a common bank with more than 50 large size examples enumerated in the Kelly census, this Gem CU example is remarkably well preserved and could scarcely be improved. The colors are bright and bold, and the centering is nearly perfect. Excellent stamped signatures add to the already impressive eye appeal. This cataloger is admittedly partial to this design, but the $5 Brown Backs offer one of the most elegant designs (and some of the most varied layout) in the entire U.S. currency series. A magnificent note for either the type collector or the Missouri specialist, one that will find a proud new owner wherever it next resides.
From the holdings of Jay Parrino.
Since we cannot examine encapsulated notes, they are sold "as is" without our grading opinion, and may not be returned for any reason.
