Description

Dutch Colony. United East India Company silver Specimen Duit 1758/6 SP61 PCGS, Utrecht mint, KM111.1a, Scholten-Unl. An undoubtable rarity as the sole example known to PCGS with only one other known to NGC in an MS62. To bolster this, Scholten intriguingly notes "Though they have been mentioned by others, Moquette never saw a genuine specimen of the Doits dated 1737, 1743, 1747-51, 1756, 1758 and 1759". Despite the elusive nature of this type, we find it here in a remarkable state of preservation and a crystal-clear overdate. It possesses beautiful silver surfaces with an almost tie-dye effect of champagne, sage, and rose. The combination of every aspect, from its rarity to its toning, is sure to garner interest from the most discerning of collectors.
