Christian V silver Pattern 2 Ducats 1673 AU53 NGC, KM-Unl., cf. Fr-12b (in gold), cf. ABH-9 (same). 7.05gm. One of a handful of exceedingly scarce Norwegian issues from the reign of Christian V in this very sale, witnessed here struck off-metal in silver. Visually captivating with the elephant reverse design, believed to be association with the ceremonies surrounding Denmark's highest chivalric order - the Order of the Elephant, not officially establish until the latter years of Christian's rule, in 1693. Boasting a stronger strike than is typically associated with these types, with all details fully embossed and easily discernible, making for a top-tier specimen for the Norwegian specialist.Auction Info
