Massive 43.85 Ounce Gold Nugget
From Rheola, Central Victoria
Large 43.85 Ounce Australian Gold Nugget. Fewer than five
gold nuggets weighing more than 5 oz. are typically discovered each
year, and specimens the size of the present example is terrifically
rare. Not only that, but this nugget has a spectacular variety of
natural surface textures, from the smooth rounded surfaces
burnished by water tumbling on its long journey from mountain to
outback, to the dimpled concavities and deep crevices, and the wide
flattened face on which it naturally rests. Like a piece of
fantastical golden Plasticine crushed and molded by the hand of
Mother Nature herself, it measures approximately 3 7/8 x 2 7/8 x 1¾
inches and weighs an impressive 43.85 troy oz (1363.8 g).
