    (1837) Cent in German Silver
    Judd-C1837-1, AU55

(1837) 1C One Cent, German Silver, Judd-C1837-1, AU55 PCGS Secure. The obverse legend has ONE CENT within an olive wreath, surrounded by a circle of dots. The reverse is similar but from a different die. Struck in German silver, or "Feuchtwanger's composition" as suggested on USPatterns.com (which would, of course, be the same thing). Plain edge. Only four or five pieces are believed known. The surfaces are dull from either short-term use in circulation or carried for a short time as a pocket piece.
From The Collection of William Rau, Part II.
