Description

(1851) Annular Cent Pattern in Billon
Judd-127 Original, MS65

(1851) P1C One Cent, Judd-127 Original, Pollock-149, Low R.6, MS65 PCGS. This perforated annular pattern curiously omits the date. The obverse features CENT at the top and ONE TENTH SILVER at the bottom, while the reverse depicts a laurel wreath and the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Struck in billon (10% silver, 90% copper) with medal turn and a plain edge. The fields are noticeably striated and each side has gray-silver color with russet accents around the devices. A lovely, problem-free example.
Ex: FUN Signature (Heritage, 7/2007), lot 2234.
