Description

(1853) Uniface Cent Pattern in Copper
Judd-151b, Unc Details, Plated

(1853) 1C Uniface Cent, Judd-151b, Pollock-179, Low R.7, -- Surface Plated -- PCGS Genuine. Unc Detail. This is an unfinished cent pattern with a complete reverse that is the same as seen on Judd-149-151. The dentils are complete around each side, but the obverse has no lettering or motifs. Struck in copper with a plain edge. The surfaces have a light plating of gold, perhaps done to suggest one of the previous year's gold dollar patterns. Several shallow pinscratches can be seen on the blank side. The underlying copper has toned and turned the piece rose and lilac through the gold wash.
