(1853) Uniface Small Cent in Billon
    Judd-151d, PR63

(1853) 1C Uniface Small Cent, Judd-151d, Pollock 181, Low R.7, PR63 PCGS. CAC. This uniface unfinished die trial has ONE CENT in the center and is surrounded by a wreath. Struck in billon with a plain edge. These pieces were also struck in copper and copper-nickel. Fewer than a half-dozen are known in each of the three compositions. According to USPatterns.com the dentilated blank side was probably struck from the same die as the gold dollar. The surfaces are dull gray overall with brighter accents around the devices. Remarkably well-preserved.
