Charming 1836 Pattern Two Cent Piece in Copper, Judd-54A

1836 P2C Two Cent, Judd-54A, Pollock-57, R.6, PR61 Brown PCGS. Pattern two cent piece with a spread-winged eagle on the obverse and the date below. The reverse has TWO CENTS in the center and is surrounded by a laurel wreath. Struck in copper with a plain edge. A charming piece, the fields have toned to a chestnut-brown color with some underlying charcoal and green. An interesting and little known feature on these two cent patterns is that the obverse die shows the 3 in the date punched over a 6. Housed in an early PCGS holder with a green insert.

    Coin Index Numbers: (PCGS# 11201)
