    Description

Highly Collectible 1836 Two Cent Pattern, Judd-54

1836 P2C Two Cents, Judd-54, Pollock-57, Low R.6, PR65 Red and Brown NGC. Pattern two cent piece with a spread-winged eagle on the obverse and the date below. The reverse has TWO CENTS in the center and is surrounded by a laurel wreath. Struck in copper with a plain edge and medallic alignment. The obverse design is reminiscent of the 'Small Eagle' motif from early silver coinage. The A in STATES is clumsily repunched over a T. The surfaces are evenly mellowed with most of the original mint red luster still in evidence beneath the light dusting of brown patina.
