    Description

Desirable 1836 Gold Dollar Pattern in Silver, Judd-69

1836 PG$1 Gold Dollar, Judd-69, Pollock-72, High R.7, PR64 PCGS. The obverse features a Liberty Cap surrounded by a sunburst, very similar to that seen on certain Mexican coins of the time. The word LIBERTY is inscribed in the cap. A coiled palm frond encircles 1.D. on the reverse with UNITED STATES OF AMERICA around. The design was attributed to Christian Gobrecht. Struck in silver with a plain edge. Considered a probable restrike by Judd. The fields glitter with deep reflectivity and there is a trace of blue and gold toning around the outer margins on each side. (#11264) (NGC ID# 296H, PCGS# 11264)
