    Description

    1850 Judd-124c Cent, Gem Proof
    Unperforated, Struck in Nickel

1850 1C One Cent, Judd-124c, Pollock-141, R.8, PR65 NGC. Part of an effort to reduce the diameter of the cumbersome large cent. The obverse displays CENT and 1850 separated by two eight-petal flowers. The reverse exhibits a widely separated ONE CENT encompassed by a laurel wreath. Struck in nickel with a plain edge on an unperforated planchet. Formerly known as Judd-152a, the pattern variety was renumbered in the Eighth Edition to accompany others struck from the same die pair. Light tan toning visits primarily pearl-gray surfaces. Satiny and unabraded with moderate incompleteness of strike at the centers.
