1850 Small Cent in Nickel
Judd-124C, PR66+

1850 1C One Cent, Judd-124C, Pollock-141, R.8, PR66+ PCGS. CAC Ex: Simpson. The obverse displays CENT and 1850 separated by two eight-petal flowers. The reverse exhibits a widely separated ONE CENT encompassed by a laurel wreath. Struck in nickel with a plain edge on an unperforated planchet. These patterns, formerly designated as Judd-152A, were part of an effort to reduce the diameter of the large cent. Only two or three examples are known in nickel, per USPatterns.com. Semireflective nickel-gray surfaces showcase blushes of golden color. A die crack passes through the top of CENT. A few small ticks appear only under strong magnification.
