    Description

    1850 Perforated Cent, MS63
    Judd-119, Struck in Billon

1850 P1C One Cent, Judd-119 Original, Pollock-134, Low R.6, MS63 NGC. The obverse displays the denomination CENT at the top, the date 1850 at the bottom, two rosettes at the sides, and a perforation in the center. The shattered reverse has the inscriptions USA and ONE TENTH SILVER around. Struck in billon (10% silver, 90% copper) with a plain edge. Judd-119 is typically certified as a proof by both NGC and PCGS. The present piece is the sole exception. This well-struck example has mostly oxidized steel-gray but ample hints of initial pearl-white luster outlines the letters and rosette. The left obverse displays wispy marks.

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2983, PCGS# 11511)
