1850 Annular Cent Pattern in Billon
Judd-119, PR63

1850 P1C One Cent, Judd-119 Original, Pollock-134, Low R.6 PR63 PCGS. The annular cent pattern, with a largish hole in the middle. The obverse displays the denomination CENT at the top, the date 1850 at the bottom, two rosettes at the sides, and a perforation in the center. The reverse, in the process of shattering and showing heavy die cracks, has the inscriptions USA (the curious U not parallel to the rim) and ONE TENTH SILVER around. Struck in billon (10% silver, 90% copper) with a plain edge and medal turn. Gray patina is seen over each side with bright, underlying silver-rose surfaces. Housed in a first-generation holder.
