Description
1850 P3CS Three Cent Silver, Judd-125 Original, Pollock-147, R.4--Damaged--NCS. Proof, AU Details. On the obverse, a glory of rays surrounds a cap inscribed LIBERTY, with the date below. On the reverse, a palm branch encircles the denomination III with the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA around. Struck in silver with a plain edge. The obverse was originally designed by Christian Gobrecht for the 1836 gold dollar, and this later variant was executed by Franklin Peale from designs by Longacre. Though this silver-blue example shows light rub and a significant abrasion on the lower right part of the palm branch, the piece displays beautifully, and it offers an affordable opportunity to own this historic pattern issue.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 298G, PCGS# 11536, Greysheet# 12116)
