    Description

    1850 Three Cent Silver, Judd-125 Original, PR62

1850 P3CS Three Cent Silver, Judd-125 Original, Pollock-147, R.4, PR62 NGC. The obverse has a Liberty cap with resplendent rays surrounding. LIBERTY is on the bottom part of the cap, and the date 1850 below. A palm branch encircles the entire reverse to form a wreath, enclosing the numeral III. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA rings the rim. Struck in silver with a plain edge.
The present example of this derivative pattern, which borrows a motif familiar to collectors of Mexican coins from the 1820s onward, has deep charcoal-gray surfaces that show some luster, although subdued, when the coin is turned toward a light.
