1850 Three Cent Silver in Silver
Judd-125, PR64

1850 P3CS Three Cent Silver, Judd-125 Original, Pollock-147, R.4, PR64 PCGS. The obverse features a Liberty cap surrounded by rays. LIBERTY is near the base of the cap with the date below. On the reverse, a circular palm branch encloses the Roman numeral III and is framed by UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Struck in silver with a plain edge. This is a well-known and collectible pattern engraved by Franklin Peale from James B. Longacre's adaptation of Gobrecht's 1836 gold dollar design. The current Choice example displays a sharp strike and golden-tinged brilliant surfaces.
