1850 Cap and Rays Three Cent in Silver
    Judd-125, PR65
    Ex: Lemus-Queller Collection

1850 P3CS Three Cent Silver, Judd-125 Original, Pollock-147, R.4, PR65 NGC. Ex: Lemus Collection. The obverse features a Liberty cap surrounded by rays. LIBERTY is on the bottom part of the cap and the date is below. A palm branch encircles the entire reverse to form a wreath, enclosing the numeral III. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA rings the rim. Struck in silver with a plain edge. This 1850 version was modeled after Christian Gobrecht's design from 1836, which was in turn influenced by the Mexican Cap and Rays design. Sharply struck and flashy with dappled gunmetal-blue and golden-brown toning. Among the nicest specimens of this attractive design.
Ex: Queller Family Collection Part Two (Heritage, 1/2009), lot 1533; ANA Signature (Heritage, 8/2012), lot 4343, where it sold for $3818.75.

Thanks to Heritage I realized a handsome profit for my coin submissions and intend to send most of the remainder of my collection to Heritage Auction Galleries for future auctions.
