Description

1851 P1C One Cent, Judd-129 Original, Pollock-153, R.7, PR 64 Brown PCGS. This Ring cent pattern shows an obverse with a wreath around the perforated center and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA around the border. The reverse reads simply CENT/ ONE TENTH SILVER around a circle that surrounds the perforation. Struck in billon with a plain edge. Most of the surfaces are a deep brown and violet with dark green scattered about. A rare and desirable early pattern cent struck in a reduced size and in an experimental alloy. We know of very few appearances of this pattern in recent decades.
