(1851) Perforated Cent Pattern in Billon
    Judd-127, MS65

1851 P1C One Cent, Judd-127 Original, Pollock-149, Low R.6, MS65 NGC. CAC. The obverse features CENT at the top and ONE TENTH SILVER at the bottom, while the reverse depicts a laurel wreath and the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Part of an effort to reduce the diameter of the cumbersome large cent. The center is perforated, unlike restrikes. Struck in billon (10% silver, 90% copper) with a plain edge. Much of the original brightness remains with the addition of smoky-rose patina over each side.
