Description
Judd-150 Thick Planchet 1853 Cent PR65
1853 E1C One Cent, Judd-150 Thick, Pollock-178, Low R.7, PR65 PCGS. This small cent pattern was struck with a reeded edge in a German silver alloy. A regular obverse quarter eagle die was paired with a wreath reverse that bears the denomination ONE CENT. The German silver alloy was a candidate to replace the copper large cent, but instead, copper-nickel emerged triumphant. A sharply struck piece with refreshingly smooth surfaces and only a couple of pinpoint peripheral spots. From The Stone 1837 Collection.
