Description

1853 One Cent, Judd-151, Pollock-178, R.5, AU 58 PCGS. Small cent pattern with the obverse design similar to the quarter eagle, the reverse has ONE CENT in the center, surrounded by a laurel wreath. Struck in either German silver or a nickel alloy with a reeded edge. Slight friction has dulled the light gray surfaces and there are specks of carbon on each side as well as deeper, charcoal-gray patina surrounding the devices.
