    Description

    Early Cent Pattern, Judd-151

1853 P1C One Cent, Judd-151, Pollock-178, R.5, PR63 NGC. The obverse is the same as that used to coin regular issue 1853 Quarter Eagles. The reverse shows the denomination ONE CENT within a laurel wreath. Struck in a nickel-copper alloy with a reeded edge. Obviously struck from misaligned dies, the right portion of each side shows striking softness with sharply defined details on the left side. Light gray patina overall with a few planchet streaks on the right third of the obverse.

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 299K, PCGS# 11628)
