    1853 Cent Pattern With Quarter Eagle Obverse, Judd-151

    1853 P1C One Cent, Judd-151, Pollock-178, Low R.6, PR64 NGC. A regular issue Liberty quarter eagle obverse is paired with a pattern reverse, which displays ONE CENT within a laurel wreath. The layout for ONE CENT is awkward, since the two words are widely separated. Struck in a 40% nickel, 60% copper alloy with a reeded edge. Smooth gray fields are unblemished save for slight cloudiness above the C in CENT. Census: 2 in 64, 2 finer (1/06).
