Description

1854 Large Cent Design, PR61 Brown
Judd-161 Original

1854 P1C One Cent, Judd-161 Original, Pollock-187, R.4, PR61 Brown NGC. An early Mint attempt to reduce the diameter of the cumbersome large cent. The size is close to a quarter dollar, and the design is similar to the Mature Head. However, there are no stars on the obverse, and the wreath is proportionately smaller. Struck in bronze with a plain edge. An ebony brown specimen with a precise strike and flashy fields. Moderately granular on the obverse field near the profile.
