    Judd-171a, PR63

1855 P1C Cent, Judd-171a, Pollock-196, R.7, PR63 PCGS. An eagle flying left dominates the obverse, 13 stars surround, and the date is below. On the reverse, the denomination ONE CENT is centered within a laurel wreath, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is at the border. Struck in German silver alloy with a plain edge. The specific alloy of this piece has been metallurgically tested and the results are: 67% copper, 13% zinc, and 20% nickel. The strike shows the usual softness on the extremities of the eagle and portions of the wreath, but is sharper than sometimes seen. The silver-gray surfaces are clashed and free from abrasions. A tiny spot is located beneath the beak.
