1855 Flying Eagle Cent in Bronze
    Judd-167 Original, PR55

1855 P1C Flying Eagle Cent, Judd-167 Original, Pollock-193, R.5, PR55 NGC. A large cent pattern featuring a hooked-neck eagle and slanting 5s on the obverse. The reverse resembles the issued large cent reverse but the wreath and denomination are smaller, and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is widely spaced. Struck in bronze with a plain edge. Struck from clashed dies, as often seen. The surfaces are even chocolate-brown on each side. The reverse shows significant unfinished areas on the die, most clearly displayed around the peripheral lettering and between the leaves in the wreath. Housed in a special Red Book encasement with an autograph by Ken Bressett. (NGC ID# 29AD, PCGS# 11709)
