Description
Large-Size 1855 Flying Eagle Cent Pattern
Judd-167, PR61 Brown
1855 P1C Flying Eagle Cent, Judd-167 Original, Pollock-193, R.5,
PR61 Brown NGC. A Flying Eagle cent pattern in large format,
featuring a hooked-neck eagle, slanting 5s on the obverse, and ONE
CENT in the center of the reverse surrounded by a thick laurel
wreath similar to that of a large cent. Struck in copper with a
plain edge. The Brown designation seems a bit severe on this piece
as significant portions of original mint red surround the devices
on each side. Die clashed, there are numerous small contact marks
on each side that account for the technical grade but none are
worthy of individual mention.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 29AE, PCGS# 11709, GSID# 12221)
