Description

1855 Flying Eagle Cent in Copper or Bronze
Judd-168, PR53

1855 P1C Flying Eagle Cent, Judd-168, Pollock-193, R.4, PR53 NGC. A Flying Eagle cent pattern featuring a hooked-neck eagle and slanting 5s on the obverse. The diameter is that of a large cent, and the reverse is similar to the issued 1855 cent. It shows ONE CENT at the center surrounded by a circular wreath bound by a ribbon. Struck in copper or bronze with a plain edge. Slight, even wear over the high points indicates this piece probably circulated for a short amount of time. The surfaces are dusky reddish-brown with a slight blue accent of color over the highest portions of the design.
