1856 Die Trial Half Cent in Copper-Nickel, Judd-177

1856 E1/2C Half Cent, Judd-177, Pollock-205, R.5, PR63 PCGS. Regular die trials striking for the Half Cent. Struck in copper-nickel with a plain edge. An important metallurgical trial strike that tested the proposed alloy for the Flying Eagle Cents which were struck later in this same year. Streaky, golden-brown patina overlays the lighter color of the copper-nickel alloy. Weakly struck on the denticles at the borders.
