    1858 Pattern Flying Eagle Cent, Judd-193, Gem Proof

    1858 Flying Eagle Cent, Judd-193, Pollock-236, R.5, PR 65 PCGS. Regular dies obverse with a reverse that has an oak wreath with a broad, ornamented shield at the top. Struck in copper-nickel with a plain edge. A transitional pattern for the replacement of the Wreath of Cereals originally used on Longacre's three-dollar gold reverse. Nicely reflective fields with a needle-sharp strike and warm golden color with underlying rose accents. Population: 4 in PR 65, none are finer (5/97).
