    1858 Flying Eagle Cent, Choice Proof
    Judd-193, Ornamented Shield Reverse

    1858 P1C Flying Eagle Cent, Judd-193, Pollock-236, Snow-PT11a, R.5, PR64 PCGS. The obverse is identical to the regular issue 1858 Small Letters cent. The reverse resembles the issued 1860 Indian cent reverse but the shield is broad and ornamented. Struck in copper-nickel with a plain edge. A smooth razor-sharp near-Gem with sea-green fields and wheat-gold margins. Minor carbon is on the obverse rim near 9 o'clock and the left base of the E in ONE. Certified in a first generation holder.
    Ex: Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 5/2003), lot 6403, which realized $3,220.
