    Description

One of Several Intriguing Pattern 1858 Flying Eagle Cents, Judd-198, PR64 PCGS

1858 P1C Flying Eagle Cent, Judd-198, Pollock-229, R.6-7, PR64 PCGS. The adopted Flying Eagle cent design with large letters on the obverse, while the reverse has a wide oak wreath with a broad, ornamental shield at the top. Struck in copper-nickel with a plain edge. The medium tan surfaces reveal blushes of pale apricot undertones and modest field brightness at direct angles. Sharply detailed over the focal features with a few areas of softness noted at the rims. A faint spot in the obverse field after the date is all that seems to preclude an even higher grade.
