Gem 1858 Flying Eagle Cent Pattern, Judd-204

1858 P1C Flying Eagle Cent, Judd-204, Pollock-248, R.5, PR65 NGC. Flying Eagle pattern with a hook-necked eagle in flight on the obverse. The reverse has an oak wreath with a broad, ornamented shield at the top. Struck in copper-nickel with a plain edge. Heavy die polish lines are seen in the obverse fields and a couple of small planchet flakes are also located between the eagle's wing and tail feathers. The bright honey-gold surfaces have taken on a noticeable accent of rose patina around the margins. A splendid Gem example of this popular Small Cent pattern.
