    1858 Copper-Nickel Flying Eagle Cent
    Judd-206, Brightly Reflective PR64

1858 P1C Flying Eagle Cent, Judd-206, Pollock-242, R.5, PR64 PCGS. The obverse displays a hooked-neck eagle flying left with the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA above and the date below. The reverse is the same used to coin regular issue 1858 Flying Eagle cents. Struck in copper-nickel with a plain edge. This design was part of 12-piece sets issued by the Mint. Examples are also known in copper and nickel. The fields are deeply mirrored and the surfaces have the characteristic lighter, honey-tan appearance of copper-nickel alloy. Two small spots are located in the field above the eagle's wing on the obverse, and a large carbon spot covers much of the O in ONE on the reverse. (NGC ID# 29BM, PCGS# 11877)
