Description

Scarce PR63 1858 Indian Cent, Judd-211

1858 P1C Indian Cent, Judd-211, Pollock-262, R.4, PR63 NGC. Snow-PT26, but the obverse die differs. The obverse of this popular pattern displays the Longacre Indian Head motif that appears on the production cent of 1859. The reverse, however, carries a thick oak wreath similar to that on the 1860 reverse, but no shield is present. Struck in copper-nickel with a plain edge. A broad bust point confirms the Pollock-262 subvariety. Well struck and attractively toned in orange, rose, and green-gold shades. A hair-thin mark above the headdress decides the grade.
