Description

Judd-211 1858 Indian Cent
Accessible Proof Example

1858 P1C Indian Cent, Judd-211, Pollock-262, Snow-PT26, R.4 -- Burnished -- NGC Details. Proof. Centered Date, Broad Bust Point. The obverse is an 1858-dated transitional issue similar to the 1858 circulation issue. The reverse bears a heavy oak wreath, different from the more-delicate laurel wreath adopted the next year but not that different from the wreath to be adopted in 1860. Struck in copper-nickel with a plain edge. This burnished example shows a curious mix of orange and tan colors on surfaces with off-kilter luster.
