    Bright PR64 1858 Indian Cent Pattern, Judd-212

1858 P1C Indian Cent, Judd-212, Pollock-256, 263, R.4, PR64 NGC. Snow-PT25, Die Pair 2. Similar to the regular issue Indian cent but with a broad, ornamented shield at the top of the reverse. Pollock's Centered Date variant. Die Pair 2 is most easily identified by a die marker in the denticles to the right of the second 8 in the date. These patterns also show die polish lines in the fields. According to Snow, only 35 pieces were struck from Die Pair 2. Struck in copper-nickel with a plain edge. The bright gray-tan surfaces show an overlay of iridescent rose and lilac patina. A few light specks of carbon are seen on each side.
