    Description

    1858 P1C Indian Cent, Judd-212, Pollock-263, R.5, PR6 ANACS. Similar to the regular issue 1859 Indian cent, but with a broad, ornamented shield at the top of the reverse. Struck in copper-nickel with a plain edge. Also similar to Pollock-256, but with a rounded instead of pointed bust truncation. The fields are a dark to moderate brown, and have a somewhat rough texture. The devices have a lighter tan patina. A well worn example, but the legends are clear.
