    Description

Popular 1859 Indian Cent Pattern, Judd-228

1859 P1C Indian Cent, Judd-228, Pollock-272, R.1, MS63 NGC. The obverse has the regular issue 1859 Indian cent obverse design, and the reverse displays the regular issue 1860 Indian cent reverse with an oak wreath with the denomination ONE CENT and a shield above. Struck in copper-nickel with a plain edge. This is a popular transitional pattern that is often incorporated in Indian Head cent collections. These pieces are known in business strike and proof formats. This is a sharply struck business strike that has a light overlay of brown patina on each side. Light carbon spotting accounts for the grade.
