    Judd-228, MS64

1859 P1C Indian Cent, Judd-228, Pollock-272, R.1, MS64 NGC. A transitional pattern that combines the issued 1859 Indian Head cent obverse with the Shield Reverse first issued for commerce in 1860. Struck in copper-nickel with a plain edge. While designated as a business strike, the fields still exhibit considerable brightness and moderate reflectivity. Sharply, but not fully defined in all areas.

With the superb catalog, a masterwork prepared by Mark Borckhardt, the sale was destined to meet all of my expectations; that it did, and then some. Be assured that I would highly recommend Heritage Auctions to any of my associates contemplating the sale
