    Description

    Light Gray-Tan 1859 Indian Cent, Judd-228
A Transitional Issue With the Reverse of 1860, MS64

1859 P1C Indian Cent, Judd-228, Pollock-272, R.1, MS64 PCGS. While one of the more frequently encountered patterns, and also one of the few made as a business strike, the Judd-228 is a popular item for collectors of Indian cents with its Obverse of 1859 and Reverse of 1860. The light copper-nickel alloy is abundantly evident on this pale coin. That being said, there is an accent of reddish patina around the margins that adds character and visual interest. A lovely example.
