    Shield Reverse, Judd-228

    1859 P1C Indian Cent, Judd-228, Pollock-272, R.1, MS65 NGC. Snow-PT4. A transitional pattern that pairs the obverse of 1859 with the shield reverse introduced in circulation in 1860. Struck in copper-nickel with a plain edge. A satiny Gem with light olive and peach toning. Both sides are devoid of marks, and carbon is negligible.
