    Description

    1859 Copper-Nickel Cent Pattern
    Judd-228, Bright MS65

1859 P1C Indian Cent, Judd-228, Pollock-272, R.1, MS65 PCGS. This transitional pattern combines the standard Indian Head cent obverse with the adopted reverse design of 1860 with the shield at the top of that side. Struck in copper-nickel with a plain edge. The Judd-228 is one of the more obtainable patterns and also one of the few struck as in business strike format. The surfaces are bright and retain almost all of the original "whiteness" of the copper-nickel alloy. Close examination shows three tiny specks on the obverse and none on the reverse.

The marketing was exceptional from the photos to the ads in Civil War Times and North South Trader for the cross over people!!! I have had many emails from my Civil War collecting fraternity that saw these and I saw them at the national show in Nashville/Franklin in early December.
