    1859 Indian Cent Pattern, MS65
    Transitional Judd-228 Example

    1859 P1C Indian Cent, Judd-228, Pollock-272, R.1, MS65 PCGS. A transitional pattern that combines the issued 1859 Indian Head cent obverse with the Shield Reverse first issued for commerce in 1860. Struck in copper-nickel with a plain edge. This satiny Gem is needle-sharp aside from the top of the shield. Lightly toned in honey and rose shades. A few minute flecks are of no importance. Housed in a first-generation holder.
    Ex: Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 9/2008), lot 3426; Los Angeles Signature (Heritage, 8/2009), lot 2255.
