    Description

    1859 Indian Cent in Copper-Nickel
    Judd-228, MS65

1859 P1C Indian Cent, Judd-228, Pollock-272, Snow-PT4, R.1, MS65 PCGS. A transitional pattern that combines the issued 1859 Indian Head cent obverse with the Shield Reverse first issued for commerce in 1860. Struck in copper-nickel with a plain edge. At first glance it is obvious this piece was struck from copper-nickel composition. Each side retains almost all of the original "white" color these pieces were known for. Just a touch of strike softness is seen on the tips of the feathers in the headdress. Housed in a first-generation holder.

Thanks to Heritage I realized a handsome profit for my coin submissions and intend to send most of the remainder of my collection to Heritage Auction Galleries for future auctions.
