    Description

Red and Brown Proof 1859 Pattern Half Dollar

1859 P50C Half Dollar, Judd-242, Pollock-298, R.5, PR63 Red and Brown ANACS. This was a year of considerable experimentation within the half dollar denomination. Various artists were involved, including Anthony Paquet who prepared this design. This is a sharply struck proof with intermingled pinkish-orange, sea-green, and iridescent toning over subdued, mirrored fields.(#11981)
