    Very Rare Paquet 1859 Half Dollar
    Judd-249, Silver, PR63

    1859 P50C Half Dollar, Judd-249, Pollock-288, High R.7, PR63 NGC. The Paquet Liberty Seated obverse. She supports a fasces and a legend-free shield. An olive branch and three arrowheads rest near the base of the shield. Thirteen stars encircle the rim. The reverse depicts the cereal wreath from issued Seated coinage with the denomination inside the wreath expressed in the tall, thin letters typical of Paquet's style. Struck in silver with a reeded edge. Like all known examples, the reverse displays extensive speckles of die rust, as made. Well struck and nicely mirrored with attractive peripheral ocean-blue and tan-gold toning.
